How to turn your notes into a game

Three steps, and the first one is the only work you do.

  3. 3

    Play them as a game

Study games you can play with your notes

These are real arcade games, not flashcards with a timer. Answering is how you move: hop the road, spell against the clock, hold the racing line, carve the slope. Tap any of these four to play a demo, no account needed.

What notes can you turn into a game?

Anything you study from. Notes with clear facts, definitions, names, and dates make the best practice questions. It works for any subject, from AP Bio to a college history lecture.

  • Pasted text

Copy straight from your notes app

  • PDFs

    Readers, handouts, study guides

  • PowerPoint slides

    .pptx lecture decks

  • Word documents

    .docx notes and outlines

  • Photos of notes

PNG or JPG, or use your camera

  • YouTube videos

    Paste a lecture link

How is this different from flashcards?

Flashcards help you review. A study game makes you answer. Both rely on active recall, pulling an answer from memory, which is one of the better-supported ways to study.

Flashcards

  • You read the prompt, flip the card, and decide whether you knew it.
  • You usually write the cards yourself, one at a time.
  • A card you miss comes back as the same card.

ZykoStudy

  • You pick an answer inside a game and find out right away, with an explanation.
  • Questions are written from the notes you upload.
  • Practice a weak topic and you get different questions on the same idea.

If flashcards already work for you, keep using them. Games help most when the hard part is sticking with review. More on this: a flashcard alternative.

Questions about turning notes into games

How do I turn my notes into a game?

Paste a few lines into the demo at the top of this page and you get a short quiz right away, which you can play here or inside a real arcade game with no account. For full notes, open the question builder: upload or paste your material, get a question set, and play it in any ZykoStudy game.

Can I upload my notes or do I have to paste them?

Either works. The question builder takes PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint slides, text files, and photos of your notes. You can also paste text or add a YouTube video link. The free plan covers up to 30 pages per upload.

Does ZykoStudy use AI to make the questions?

In the question builder, yes: AI reads what you upload and writes practice questions from it, and you can edit the set before you play. The instant demo on this page is simpler. It builds questions from your sentences inside your browser, without AI and without uploading anything.

What kinds of study games can I play?

Arcade games where answering is how you move: cross the road in ZykoCross, fly through gaps in Flappy Zyko, carve down a mountain in Power Slope, race an obstacle course in Tumble Squad, and more. Some games carry a Premium badge.

How is ZykoStudy different from Quizlet?

Quizlet is built around flashcards and a large library of shared sets, so if a ready-made set already matches your class, it can be quicker. ZykoStudy starts from your own notes: it writes questions from what you upload, and you answer them inside arcade games with XP and streaks.
